What belongs in a mushroom farm startup budget?
Include the production system and enough cash to survive startup variability. Facility deposits and buildout, clean-air work, sterilization or pasteurization, incubation and fruiting controls, refrigeration, delivery, permits, insurance, raw materials, labor and several months of overhead all draw cash before production becomes predictable.
The repayment estimate uses operating contribution: weekly sales minus weekly operating costs. It excludes interest, loan payments, depreciation, income tax and owner distributions. Treat it as a scenario test, not a forecast or financial recommendation.
